Shinjo has finally comeback to the team and now it’s his turn to bat the ball. Just one more shot and they will win the game. Shinjo must have been feeling nervous. He isn’t able to get the ball twice. Luckily, on the third one, he is able to hit it.
As soon as Shinjo hits the ball, Sekikawa runs to his feet. However, though he has tried all he can, he isn’t able to make it. He is out and the referee calls it a gameset.
And so that’s it. With the score of 9-8, Yougadaiichi Senior High School wins and Nikogaku team loses their first comeback game.
Everyone thinks that the Nikogaku team is regretful and frustrated about their loss. But hey, they’ve got it all wrong! Kawato-sensei explains that there is no such thing as regret as they have gained many things… their dreams, their friendship and learned the importance of effort.
Guess who are in the picture! After witnessing the game, the principal has realized his mistakes. He feels sorry that he couldn’t make the students strive for their dreams like Kawato has done.
He feels sorry that he couldn’t be just like Kawato. That day too, Kawato-sensei explains to his students that the principal and the vice-principal went to Koshien to play baseball during their younger years.
The next day, the assistant coach of Yougadaiichi Senior High School whom Kawato-sensei has punched during their practice game has gone to the principal’s office to have Kawato resign from his job because of what Kawato has done to him. The principal promises that they will take full responsibility about Kawato’s punching accident during the game and then announces that he will resign from job as principal of their school.
As the principal walks away from the school, the vice-prinicipal calls the captain one last time. And the captain raises his hand and waves goodbye.
Principal Fujimura is the new principal of Futagotamagawa Gakuen Private Senior High School. He and Kawato have known each other at their previous school and he has helped Kawato with his issue before. To be prepared to go to Koshien, Nikogaku team needs to have lots of practice games. Kawato-sensei asks the coach of the softball team if he could allow his members to play with the baseball team.
The softball team coach is a little bit hesitant and tells Kawato that he should ask his baseball team members first to stop smoking. Kawato-sensei replies that the cigars are not his students’. Two girls come out of room beside the baseball club’s room. They are students of Mayumi-sensei. Kawato-sensei greeted them.
The softball team coach agrees to let his team play with the baseball club under one condition… Aniya musn’t play in their practice game. Nothing he could do, Aniya agrees and the practice game pushes through.
With a score of 18-0, the baseball club loses to the softball team. They didn’t know before that they have played with the best eight in the regional. Now that the baseball club knows what they are missing, they practice much harder.
Shinjo is lagging behind. He is having a hard time catching up with this teammates. He asks Okada to help him regain his stamina by pitching the balls to him while he tries to catch them. The team follows both of them to their practice and Aniya helps Okada and Shinjo by replacing the tired Okada. Hiratsuka and Imaoka are on their way to their classroom when they hear Mikoshiba and Yagi talk about who they are going to get rid of. To Hiratsuka’s surprise, it’s him whom they plan not to put as a regular.

Hiratsuka is sooo pissed off that during their practice he has already got seven strikes in a row. While Aniya is getting ready to pitch for the 8th time, he accidentally trips off and pitches the ball right infront Hiratsuka’s face. Afraid and surprised, Hiratsuka places the bat right in front of his face and strikes the ball far. What a LUCK! :)
Kawato-sensei instructs Aniya to hit Hiratsuka in his face. Hiratsuka’s natural reflexes makes him react and he hits balls going to his face. It looks like he is getting a spot with the regulars.
And that leaves Yufune and Hiyama vying for the last position of the regulars. Meanwhile, Yagi sees the two girls from Mayumi-sensei’s class coming out of the room beside the baseball club’s room. And there she sees again two used cigars on the floor.
Yagi informs Aniya about the cigarette accusations on the baseball team and shows him the used cigars. Aniya looks at them and notices that they are menthol cigarettes and informs Yagi that only women smoke them. Wakana notices some used cigars on the floor just right outside their baseball club room. And as soon as he picks them, the principal sees him.
Kawato-sensei runs to the rescue of his students. He tries to convince Principal Fujimura and the rest of the teachers that his students don’t have anything to do with the cigarettes that they have found but they don’t want to believe him. Yagi suddenly shows up bringing with her the two girls from Mayumi sensei’s class. They are the culprits after all.
Mayumi-sensei feels sorry about what has happened and calls herself immature as a teacher for not knowing her students very well. She apologizes to the students who got accused. The principal must have felt ashamed of what he has done to the baseball club and how he has mistreated them.
Reminiscing about the awful incident that happened last year, Aniya tells his teammates to cut it out with those tiresome memories. Okada then notices that Hiyama is not with them. Hiyama is, after all, praciting by himself to get a spot in the regulars.
Hiyama gets teased with his batting skills by two students who belong from Megurogawa High School. He is about to punch one of them but he remembers Kawato-sensei. In the end, he is the one who gets beat up.
And the nightmare has shown himself. Carrying a bat, he must have prepared himself to reenact what he has done the previous year. (Good acting! I would like to hit you with your baseball bat too! Joke!:)) And Aniya receives a call from the the nightmare himself - Enatsu.
